Zizzle Finalist

Back in April, I sent five stories for a young adult magazine’s (Zizzle) flash fiction contest. It is a magazine I have had my eye on and wanted to be in! I was thrilled to be chosen as a finalist.

Here is the info from their site:

The contest challenged writers to choose a dialogue prompt from those we posted on social media every week during the submission period, and to write a story that included the prompt. The Zizzle Team created a shortlist from which our guest judges, David Galef and Karen Heuler, selected their favourites.

Our three finalists:

“Maiden Flight, 1999” by Sudha Balagopal from Litchfield Park, AZ, USA (Dialogue prompt: “Just imagine…”)

“Not Snow White’s Apple” by Lilla Csorgo from Carterton, New Zealand (Dialogue prompt: “You will have to wait for it.”)

“Somewhere Else” by Maggie Nerz Iribarne from Syracuse, NY, USA (Dialogue prompt: “Just imagine…”)

First Prize is $1,000 USD; second prize, $500; three finalists, $150 each. All winning and finalist pieces will be included in Zizzle’s upcoming print issue which features audio stories and a song especially produced to accompany a Zizzle story. Stay tuned for details!
